Welcome to our first blog post! Let's get you started with the first steps - where to start your job search in Dublin.

Here at CV to Dublin, we want to help you find a job in Dublin, so the most natural thing is to start with a few basic tips on your job search in Dublin.

As you may know unemployment in Ireland has dropped significantly in the last couple years, decreasing to 7.9% - its lowest point since October 2008, which means that it's easier to find a job now than it's been in the last 9 years - crazy, I know!

Still before anything, you need to know where to look to find the job you'll love.

let's get started - mulan

Specialised Websites

LinkedIn - the largest professional network in the world is a great way to get noticed by recruiters, you can also join conversations in groups and find some jobs (though, I'm sure you've also received emails with weirdly matched job suggestions before too), definitely a great way to leverage your existing contacts and put yourself out there actively.

Indeed Ireland - Full disclosure, I've worked for them for a while - one of the busiest job sites in Dublin - with tons of jobs aggregated across the web - the site also offers the ability to post your CV and allows recruiters to contact you there for free (they'll only see your contact details if you reply). It's probably one of the sites that strikes the best balance between job search and CV database functionalities. I do recommend using their job alerts functionality.

Top Language Jobs - a less known site where I would recommend you to upload your CV for jobs with language skills, recruiters love their CV database - make sure to keep your CV up to date though!

Monster Ireland - their CV database is also a big recruiters favourite - you can also find a good amount of jobs there that you may not be able to find elsewhere - still a good contender in spite of its decrease in relevance in the last few years.

Irish Jobs - the only Irish owned website of the list 😨  - it's also traditionally been the largest job site in Dublin - still a great resource thanks to years of relationship built with recruiters.

Glassdoor - this one is really useful to get a peak inside a company and see what people have to say about working there - of course you need to use good judgement when reading reviews as some are pretty obviously from disgruntled former employees.

Social Media

Facebook groups are also a very popular place to go look for jobs, there you'll find tons of jobs shared by recruiters and employees looking for their next hire/colleague - definitely worth checking!

Twitter is also a pretty useful, the hashtag #JobFairy is widely used by recruiters, you can also fine tune the searchby adding Dublin or any other relevant keywords to your search -  you can also monitor it using Tweetdeck!

Instagram - one of the up and coming behemoth platform, you can use it to follow businesses - most major companies will have a career oriented account where they'll share insights inside their culture and job openings

Refer me please - a new and interesting player from Dublin that will help you connect with employees who are looking to refer people into jobs at their companies, they have few jobs, but it's a great way to be sure you get to the top of a recruiters list (most companies make their recruiters deal with employee referrals as a priotity) - definitely worth trying!

We think that with all these recommended websites you should be able to start searching for jobs in Dublin and not miss any opportunity - try them to see which solutions suit you best and let us know what works best for you!

may the force be with you - good luck -
